I began practicing Yoga at Jivamukti in New York City in 1996 and have been teaching at Studio 206 since 2001. Within months of beginning to practice, I literally felt my heart stretching open, and I feel continually blessed and surprised by the mysterious way Yoga helps me to engage with the business of being human. Though my class is physically and mentally challenging, I try to cultivate a supportive, friendly atmosphere in which practitioners of all levels can safely and compassionately explore their obstacles–physical, emotional, and creative.
I hold a B.A. in English from Barnard College and an MFA in Creative Writing from UVa. I am a founding member of WriterHouse, a nonprofit creative writing center, where I also teach fiction writing. I have published some stories nationally and have been working on a novel for about a hundred years. Off the yoga mat, I enjoy sleeping, reading, hanging out with my family (one husband, one daughter, two cats), and sharing meals with friends.
