Brown Belt Nia Instructor
Green Belt Certified, Nia 5 Stages Certified

I studied Transpersonal Psychology at Burlington College in Vermont, where I received an intellectual education in body-mind practices, but after dancing with Nia for over six years, I find that Nia has brought me a much deeper understanding of my own body-mind relationship and invite my students to seek the same.  I enjoy the Nia Technique published music, but I have so much fun changing it up, too.  My Classic Nia Classes are playful and we regularly use Nia’s 5 Sensations (strength, stability, mobility, flexibility and agility) to tap into what each student is desiring that day.  Journey Nia on Sundays is quieter, with slower, deeper and intrinsic movements.  Outside of class, I enjoy spending time with my husband Harold Smith, working at University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business and selling Usana Nutritionals.
