Cynthia was awarded the runner up position for best yoga teacher in the Best of C-VILLE 2011. She has been teaching yoga since 1995 and is a 500-Hour Level Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance. Known for teaching with precision and eloquence, Cynthia has a creative and authentic teaching style and often weaves a philosophical or anatomical theme into her classes. Her practice is informed by a variety of methods including Integral, Iyengar, and Anusara styles. She studied postural alignment and the Pilates method with Carla Shifflett from 2006-2010 and as a result; her approach has evolved into a modified, alignment-specific method suitable for all levels of experience.
In addition to her experience as a yoga instructor, Cynthia has been using evidence-based teaching strategies with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders while employed as an instructor, staff trainer, and outreach consultant with the Virginia Institute of Autism since 2003. Her teaching style in her Yoga Spectrum class for children is energetic and playful with a focus on optimizing both the participation and enjoyment of her students.
